Northern Lights in Co. Donegal, Ireland
#1
A few pictures I took of the Northern Lights taken here outside Kilcar, Co. Donegal on the 11th May 2024 about midnight.  The last time I saw them vividly was back in 2005.

These pictures were taken with a Sony DSC-RX100M6 on a tripod, manually focused to infinity.

The Northern Lights are back this evening, the 10th October, although not as bright as back in May.

The aurora is visible in the light-polluted skies above Cork City.

They intensified after midnight, mostly green and red and clearly visible just walking outside without waiting for my eyes to adjust.  The second mostly red image below was a deep red colour to the eye, felt like sunset:

That was great being able to see them down in Cork!

Even here in Co. Donegal away from street lighting we usually miss them due to the sky being overcast or raining.
