So, It seems that Eir is bringing VoLTE and VoWifi to all prepaid customers.
Also, They will be bringing Voicemail to their Prepaid platform too!
I think this might mean the beginning of the shutdown of their 3G networks in the following months following behind Vodafone and Three.
I wonder will this lead to an improvement in their 5G speeds, But I'm still unsure at the moment about this.

Hey this is interesting thank you. Is there any timeframe for VoLTE, WiFi calling and voicemail for prepaid customers?

Yes, Its to be available by the end of the year.
In store, Agents are encouraged to upsell to 5G devices and to give replacement sim cards as old legacy sim cards wont work on the 4G/5G networks
With this, We will also see the addition of ESim technology and environmentally friendly sim cards
Recently, 3 have started to offer ESim as well as Lyca Mobile.
This just leaves eir to add it to their platform too

Really interesting thank you. Out of curiosity, What are the eir store agents allowed to do? It’s confusing, some of them say they can’t do anything but sell products yet some of them go the extra mile and modify my bill etc?

Honestly, It depends on the person you get. We can modify bills to a certain extent and remove charges if needed but we are not asked to do this only in exceptional circumstances (complaint etc...)
With our sim only offer, if youre on an old system we can put you back to 15 euros in store but people on the new system have to contact customer care to do any of this, We can just add a 5 euro discount for 6 months
A lot of our work is kept hush from what we can do. We can do more than you expect. It mostly just depends on your attitude towards the consultant youre dealing with.
With our system, we have to apply all discounts manually and thats why it takes a long time to set up a fixed broadband, Sim Only or a mobile broadband.
If we get a really irritating customer, youre getting sent to customer care.

If we get a really irritating customer, youre getting sent to customer care. Again this is super helpful, thank you. And on the prepaid side of things what can you do there? There obviously isn’t any billing etc on prepay as it’s a top up service, so how does that work, what can you do with prepaid customers in a sense? Also how did you know that voicemail, volte & vowifi are coming to prepay? I didn’t think they’d share that with eir retail staff. Although, as of today my phone is making some if not all calls in 4G. So there’s that. I’m on the €20 prepay plan.

Great to hear that eSIMs will be coming to eir.
Any idea of timescale? I see you mention end-of-year and wonder if this is set in stone or a target date?
Will this apply to GoMo as well?
Currently weighing up buying a US eSIM only model vs the European version.

On the prepay side of things, We can add and remove deals as needed, Check PIN and PUK, Check usage, offer replacement sim cards, Top up manually, Add and remove barrings (When i recieve a scam text from an eir number i just bar it) and if needed, top up a customers account but like the last post this can only be used if theres a complaint etc.
With regards to Voicemail, VoLTE and VoWifi. This was relayed to all staff in their latest internal newsletter.

Unfortunately there is no timescale of when the ESim will be coming to eir, it will be before the end of the year, But i will keep you all informed on the rollout of this!
Im sure this will apply to GoMo too but as i just work with the eir side of things i wouldnt be able to confirm or deny anything on this... Sorry

Hopefully whenever Eir offers eSIM, they don't make it awkward like Three does when it comes to moving an eSIM to a new device. According to a few users on Boards, it is a manual awkward process and if the user moves the eSIM more than few times, Three mentions there will be a €15.20+VAT charge.
For those that frequently switch devices or want to use an eSIM on a router, I came across the service esim.me, which sells a physical SIM card that functions as an eSIM. This means the user can install an eSIM with a QR code much like an eSIM enabled phone, but with the advantage of being able to transfer the physical SIM between devices including non eSIM capable devices such as a router or laptop modem. Their App however is licenced to a single Android phone and they charge €10 to transfer the App, but then again the SIM behaves like a traditional SIM with the last active eSIM profile without the App.

Has wifi calling been enabled for prepay customers yet? Or any news on when it might be?

I received a text to an eir prepay SIM in a mobile broadband router when I topped up this week that VoLTE and WiFi Calling were now enabled on my account.
Haven't tested it in a phone yet but it would appear movement is now underway.

I'm putting this down to a massive billing and OSS upgrade going on currently. Depending on when you signed up, where you signed up (online, telesales, retail), what services and bundles you subscribed, meant your account could sit on quite a number of different systems.
Two identical subscribers with identical services could actually be on two totally different billing systems. Was largely to blame for the absolute mess their customer service has been over the years and why billing errors were common and fixes took forever.
GoMoWorld and GoMo share the same backend systems, so functionally they could offer everything GoMoWorld offers on GoMo too - eSIM, app, roaming bundles, etc.
It's Eir "proper" that I suspect is the hold up and presumably they do not want to offer something on GoMo they cannot currently offer to their own brand customers too.
They are migrating accounts in the background onto the same billing platform as GoMo use - we switched our home broadband to Eir recently and when we signed up for MyEir it linked the logon to an existing GoMo account we have using the same e-mail. Now if we change the password on one it changes the password for the other. While our Eir and GoMo bills look identical except for the logo in the corner.

I don’t understand their pricing either on mobile plans. The prepay €20 unlimited calls, text & data is much better value than the unbundled sim only €20 for 12 months then €30 thereafter + annual inflation increase in April. Exact same allowances on both plans. I just don’t get it.

We used to sell it like "you get 30 days on post compared to prepay where you only get 28 days and you don't have to worry about topping up"
When I worked in eir it was 15 for 6 months and come back into the store after that to keep it at the 15 euro, honestly it was a steal. I got so many sales from it (not flexing).
When they raised the prices to 20 euro for a year. We had so much backlash, customers coming in screaming at me "you said come back after 6 months, you're a scammer" etc etc. We used to have call customer care as they never gave us access to put it back to even 20 euro. It was just when they were overencumered with calls about the issue that they let retail agents do it"
About the oss upgrade. That happened last year they moved to a system called ION
People on bill will probably notice a charge from Eirion. That's their billing system.
Honestly it's a lot better than their ond system that they used to use. It's a lot faster.
They said last September that they will have esims rolled out before Christmas 23. But here we are in August 24 still without it (well done eir)

Madness. Do you still work for eir? It sounds like a good job but also has its downsides. I’m planning to ditch my three SIM card but not sure whether to pick eir or Vodafone to replace it. Any help would be appreciated

Nah, went from eir and got a job in Vodafone. Less complaints and a better network all round
