The WAN/LAN port on the primary node only needs to be connected when first setting up the nodes to get past the Tenda setup wizard. Once in bridge mode, this port can be left empty based on testing here with my MW6 nodes (assuming the MW12 behaves similar).
If this does not work, it's possible the Tenda MW12 nodes are using a new wired backhaul protocol where one of the switches is falsely detecting these packets as corrupt data or an unrecognised VLAN ID and discarding them.
Thanks Seán. I've given this a go to no avail. Plugging in the Office MX12 nodes ethernet (either in the Office via the Tenda switch, or directly into the Netgear switch) knocks the whole Tenda system for six. My devices stop responding, both wired and wifi, and then the wifi ones disconnect from the wifi network. Doesn't matter which combo of WAN/LAN or just LAN port is used.
Very frustrating indeed. If anyone comes up with a fix/work around, I will be happy to hear. In the meantime, I will give some thought to returning to the MW6 system.
