I reckon the second LAN port should provide Internet connectivity as it's effectively bridged with the LAN. It's just the mesh backhual connectivity that appears to treat the WAN and LAN ports separately on the secondary nodes. Certainly worth a try.

Then again, the network switch does provide the advantage of leaving a spare Ethernet port for a future printer, games console, etc.
