The most likely issue to occur is possibly not showing signal readings or missing functionality such as the ability to lock bands. The worst case scenario would be it not showing up at all, but should not cause any harm, much like installing a PCIe card in a PC without a suitable driver to use it.
One thing to beware of is that you will need to attach all 4 antenna ports on the modem to avoid possible damage from the modem attempting to transmit on a detached antenna port. The LHGG dishes have two U.FL antenna connections, so you will need two additional antennas (e.g. U.FL to SMA pigtails) for the other two ports.
Thanks for the reply. If i try it i will post here how it went.
i also talked with MT and this is their "not so smart" response:
"Hello, Mentioned modem won't fit into LHG because LHG has mini pcie modem slot, bet mentioned T99W175 modem has M2 slot."
I replied to them that i plan to use an adapter...
Now i have some more questions:
I want to understand something. With the internal modem of the LHGG CAT6 can i at least do CA with B3 + B7? I've read that the only option is Β20 + (any other band) which if true, it sucks..
About the upgrade again, i also found a fibocom f350 but it also is not on the supported modems on mikrotiks website. However they do list the Fibocom f150 which is very similar, also 5g but tripple the price..
They do also support the "Dell DW5821e" which is 90% similar to the T99W175 so i'm very skeptical here..
I just found the Dell DW5821e-eSIM on a very good price (cat16 lte). Should i buy it? I am worried about the esim. I want to use a physical sim on my lhgg
I could also go with this quectel but it's expensive
