RE: Eir MEGATHREAD - fullofquestions - 26/11/2023

I have a question actually, I'm on the newest system and I have a cancelled number and an active number but the cancelled number seems to still show under the staffs side as cancelled under my account. Will this ever go away? It causes confusion when I'm calling.

It shows up on the staffs side as cancelled, it stays active on the system for a few months until the number gets recycled.
This takes around 6 months to happen though.

RE: Eir MEGATHREAD - Seán - 28/01/2024

I just noticed the microwave feed on the Eir Kilcar mast is pointing a completely different direction, likely a result of the recent storms.  The following shows a picture from pedroc from 31/12/2023 compared to this day of post.  My phone zoom is also no match for his optical zoom:

I'm not sure how to go about reporting this to Eir, never mind the agent wondering how I know their antenna is misaligned!  Smile

Its Site ID is DL_2747 and should be aimed at DL_3235 going by the close-up label picture in that post.

Update: I just noticed after posting that the bracket on the main pole has moved and the transceiver behind the microwave feed appears to be on the opposite side, so it's now looking like this was intentionally repositioned to aim at the tetra mast on Muckross Head.

Hi Mr.Eir
Not sure if you can help with this one....

I have a 35euro monthly bill for 4G home broadband. It is due to increase each year due to "inflation". Eir still advertise the plan for 35euro.
e.g. its the same nonsense as Sky pulls. Tongue

Do I have to cancel the plan and start a new one, or can Eir just drop it back to 35e to avoid the hassle?

FWIW, I have always been on a monthly contract with the plan as I didnt take a router.

Cheers,
RB

Hi Arrbee, Its Mr. Person

They can put it back down to 35 euro. They say they cant over customer care. Best to do it in store imo

I would say send your details to me, but i dont work there anymore. too much hassle and stress

I work at a different provider now

Do you like it better at Vodafone? Smile
Is their network better than eir per se? Do you have the same kind of system as care? I wonder if you’re able to deal with care queries because the 1907 line is actually useless.
By the way congratulations on your new job.

RE: Eir MEGATHREAD - Seán - 13/04/2024

Just in case anyone is wondering about getting around the Three April price increase when out of contract, this is possible by calling them and pressing 5 for other enquiries.

I first tried My3 and the "Change my plan" page said to contact Three. I called Three and pressed the number for "Upgrade my plan" and gave a recorded voice saying go to My3 to do this and hung up! I tried calling again this time choosing 5 for other enquiries and to my surprise I got through without any waiting time (Saturday afternoon) and the assistant changed my contract to the €29.99 SIM only plan without any hassle. For comparison, it took about an hour with their webchat last year to change my plan as there was about 30 minutes of waiting and the assistant took about 5 to 10 minutes to respond to each text.

A brother who is with Vodafone SIRO broadband said he was able to get Vodafone to renew his plan at €35/month for a year. Hopefully Eir is able to do the same without having to cancel and set up a new mobile broadband contact.

@VodafonePerson

Thank you so much.. Sorry for the long reply. yeah the network seems a bit better here. a LOT less complaints coming in. Its a bit more expensive but its really worth it for truly unlimited everything for 35 euro

I find care not too bad, they are based in Egypt so sometimes you get people with a dodgy connection so you can't hear them too well.
A lot quicker to answer than eir which i good but they seem to bounce you around a lot from dept to dept which is annoying.
Instore we can do less that what i could do in eir, in eir i could do cares job for them mostly but everything in vodafone has to be done through care, we cant even give out replacement simcards unless the number is registered and they have ID, whereas in eir you just gave the simcard out. (they dont really care in Eir, if its not registered, then they will just give your number away no questions asked)

Does GoMo which uses Eir supports CA please? Because I've Lycamobile doesn't support always on CA like my Three does.

They do yes,I've been using a gomo sim for 4-5 years in a router and can aggregate no problem on huawei routers I've been using.

Hey, I have a quick question.

I was unable to pay my Eir bill for three months, my parents were in a car accident in the Uk and I travelled over to be with them. I wasn’t working so was unable to pay any of my direct debits.

I made Eir aware but my number was cancelled regardless.

Now that I am back working can I pay off the outstanding balance and get my number back online!?

RE: Eir MEGATHREAD - VodafonePerson - 19/05/2024

Yeah you can

But you will have to start up a new account once the cancelled account is paid otherwise it won't allow you to make a new account

What you have to do after that is go to a store, take a sim only or prepaid sim card and ask them to do a MSISDN swap of your cancelled number onto the new sim. I'm not sure a lot of staff know how to do this, but it is possible to save the number provided the number has been cancelled. I had to do this many times, but customer care will just refuse to do this for you. (They're a nightmare)
