When visitors register, log in and post on the site we collect the data entered, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

Any data sent through this website’s contact form will be sent along with the visitor’s IP address to my e-mail account in much the same way as sending me an e-mail.


If you browse, register or sign-in on our site, the site stores some information in cookies, listed here. These are for your convenience so that you can see which posts and threads you previously read and can remain signed in when you return. These cookies will last for one year.

You can also contact me through this website’s contact form to remove all your contact information. If you have trouble with the captcha during registration (there to discourage spam), please use the Contact form (on my Editor Seán blog), mention a preferred username and I will create a user account for you.

How we protect your data

If a post left on the website contains any personal information other than a name or avatar, I will edit out that personal information. For example, I will edit out any personal address, Eircode, telephone number, etc. I may contact the user if I edit or remove the post.

This website uses https (Let’s Encrypt cert), which encrypts any data submitted in a form.

What data breach procedures we have in place

I periodically make a complete backup of the forum and my main Editor Seán website including its databases. If for any reason there is a data breach, I will alert you of such a breach and take the forum and website offline until it is secured. This will include restoring a known good backup before the breach took place.

What third parties we receive data from

We do not receive personal data from third parties other than the users who register and particiapte on the forum. All data on this website has been voluntarily added such as through the contact and comment forms and users posting.
