I suggest removing the PIN lock from the SIM as I know this causes issues with some routers like what you describe. The PIN is an anti-theft measure intended for mobile handsets. What I suspect is that the router deactivates the modem while it is idle to save energy and when it wakes the modem up, the SIM requires the PIN like restarting a phone.
To remove the SIM PIN, put the SIM into a mobile phone temporarily. Go into the phone's security settings and there should be an option to disable the SIM PIN lock. For example, on my OnePlus Nord 2T, I go into the Phone Settings menu -> Security and privacy -> More security and privacy -> SIM lock -> SIM2 (if in slot #2 in a dual SIM phone) -> Toggle off "Lock SIM". It will ask to confirm the PIN one last time and the SIM should no longer require the PIN when placed back in the router.
thank you so much for this, we are fully online . so much thanks it was the pin lock for shure. this was getting me down . popped into my own phone removed pin and running .
